Install LED strips in the order that keeps faults easy to find

The best time to find a wrong connector, poor aim, or inaccessible controller is before adhesive or trim makes the system permanent. Lay out the full run first. Test it as a complete system. Then mount it with a service path.

Map the route and cut points

Measure the run, mark corners, and find the strip’s approved cut points. Plan the cable route and connector positions before peeling adhesive. Keep the power supply and controller in a place that can be reached later.

Test all components together

Connect the strip, power supply, controller, and any extension leads as the final layout will use them. Check the first and last sections, the intended color or brightness settings, and the usual control method. Do not hide a fault by testing only a short section at the bench.

If a section fails, stop and check the product documentation. Change one connection or component at a time. Do not make wiring changes outside the instructions.

Prepare the mounting surface

Clean and dry the surface according to the product guidance. Check whether the surface, heat, and moisture conditions suit the mounting method. A channel or diffuser can improve the finish and may change heat handling, but it also needs room for service.

Recheck the view after mounting

Turn on the strip from the normal viewing position. Look for glare, reflections, loose sections, and blocked access. Record the system models and routing before closing any access panel. Stop for damaged cable, excess heat, or an uncertain electrical connection.
